Ecumenópolis- (del Griego:οικουμένη, que significa mundo, y πόλις (polis) que significa ciudad, por lo tanto una ciudad conformada por el mundo entero) término inventado por el arquitecto y urbanista griego Constantinos Doxiadis el 1967, que alude a la idea de que, en un futuro, las áreas urbanas y megalópolis se fusionarán en una única ciudad mundial dados la creciente urbanización y crecimiento de población.
